At first glance, these two SUVs from Honda may seem so similar that you think it doesn’t matter which one you choose. However, some significant differences may make one more suitable than the other. 2023 Honda Passport vs. 2023 Honda Pilot: Performance

We’ll start by looking at what sort of performance you can expect from these two vehicles. This is a fairly easy comparison to make, because both vehicles use the same engine, although they get slightly different results with it. Under the hood, you’ll find a 3.5-liter V-6 engine with a nine-speed automatic transmission in the Passport and a 10-speed in the Pilot.

The powertrain in the Honda Passport will deliver 280 horsepower and allow it to tow up to 5,000 lbs, making it a pretty good towing vehicle for its size. The Honda Pilot produces slightly more horsepower, coming in at 285, and it can tow somewhere between 3,500 and 5,000 lbs, depending on a few other factors.

Finally, the 2023 Honda Passport comes standard with all-wheel drive, while the 2023 Pilot comes standard with front-wheel drive. However, you can upgrade the 2023 Pilot to all-wheel drive if you prefer, but doing so may impact your horsepower and fuel efficiency ratings.

2023 Honda Passport vs. 2023 Honda Pilot: Fuel Efficiency

Fuel efficiency is an important consideration when buying any vehicle. For the 2023 Honda Passport, expect to get around 19 mpg in the city and 24 mpg on the highway, for a combined rating of 21 mpg. The 2023 Honda Pilot gets similar results, with the EPA rating it at 19 mpg in the city and 27 mpg on the highway. However, if you opt for all-wheel drive on the Honda Pilot, expect these numbers to dip slightly. Whichever vehicle you choose, you’re getting an SUV that’s great on gas, especially when you’re driving on the highway.

2023 Honda Passport vs. 2023 Honda Pilot: Interior

Moving inside, you’ll appreciate the comfortable and organized interior of the 2023 Honda Passport. The front seats offer plenty of comfort and space, even for taller drivers. There’s also plenty of space for both passengers and cargo, with 41 cubic feet of space behind the rear seats. You can also fold down that row of seats to expand the cargo area to 78 cubic feet for when you need extra space. The 2023 Passport also features plenty of cubby space throughout the cabin, making it easier to keep your vehicle organized and clean.

The 2023 Honda Pilot, similarly, features a family-friendly interior design. The biggest difference between the Pilot and the Passport is the number of seats. While the Passport seats five, the Pilot can fit up to eight people thanks to its third row of seating. Because of this extra row of seats, the Pilot has less cargo space behind the rear row, with just 19 cubic feet. However, you can fold down both rows of seats, giving you either 49 or 87 cubic feet of cargo space.

As for entertainment options, both the 2023 Passport and the 2023 Pilot feature a touch-screen infotainment system that makes controlling your preferred media sources easy. In the Passport, you’ll get an 8-inch screen, while the Pilot can come with either a 7- or 9-inch screen. Both vehicles also have premium audio systems available, along with other amenities such as Wi-Fi hotspot capabilities, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2023 Honda Passport vs. 2023 Honda Pilot: Safety

Finally, there are numerous safety features included with both models. Both the Passport and Pilot have a lot of safety features included as standard, with others available on higher trims. Some of the standard safety features on both models include:

  • Lane departure warning.
  • Lane-keep assist.
  • Adaptive cruise control.
  • Blind-spot monitoring.

The inclusion of so many standard safety features is one of the reasons that these vehicles are among the safest on the road. In fact, the 2023 Honda Passport received an overall five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (the Pilot has not received a rating yet).

2023 Honda Passport vs. 2023 Honda Pilot: Trims and MSRPs

With both the 2023 Honda Passport and the 2023 Honda Pilot, there are a few trim options to choose from. The trim you select will determine not only the MSRP but the features that you get. This makes it easier to find a combination of price and amenities that you’re comfortable with. The available trims and MSRPs for the Passport are:

  • 2023 Honda Passport EX-L: $42,445.
  • 2023 Honda Passport TrailSport: $44,945.
  • 2023 Honda Passport Elite: $47,905.

Which Honda SUV is Right for You?

There’s a lot to like about both of these Honda SUVs. However, one of them may be a better fit for you than the other.
