Living just north of Cincinnati, residents of Fairfield, OH have access to a diverse range of cuisines. Whether you want to stay within the city limits or venture a little farther, there are numerous international dining options available to you. Here, we’ve compiled a list of what we think are the best international restaurants in the Fairfield area.
Om India
Om India has been serving up robust Indian flavors to Fairfield diners since 2018, when owner Navjit Singh opened the restaurant to cater to a rising Indian and Nepalese population in Fairfield. Since then, it has become one of the highest-regarded international restaurants in Fairfield.
The menu consists of many classic Indian favorites, plus some that diners may find unfamiliar. In addition to well-known bread such as plain and garlic naan, there is the Kashmiri naan with coconut raisins and the Hot n Spicy naan with green chilies and red peppers. Side dishes include raita, which is a cooling yogurt condiment, and mango chutney. Aside from the well-loved chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and lamb vindaloo, you can find lesser-known delicacies like lamb dopiaza and tikka bharta.
Om India is located at 530 Wessel Drive. The restaurant is open seven days a week. Monday through Saturday, lunch service lasts from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. After a short break, the service resumes for dinner at 4:30 p.m. and ends at 9:30 p.m. Sunday hours are similar, except that the restaurant closes at 9 p.m. To contact the restaurant, call 513-858-4141.
Caruso’s Ristorante & Bar
The history of Caruso’s Ristorante & Bar dates back to 1967, when Rakan Shteiwi opened a restaurant of the same name in downtown Cincinnati. In the 1980s, he would open The Spinning Fork in Fairfield, which he bequeathed to his family upon his passing in 2016. Then, in 2019, Rakan’s son, Braheam Shteiwi, partnered with college friend Mike Sage to renovate the restaurant and rebranded it as Caruso’s as an homage to his father’s legacy.
Like The Spinning Fork before it, Caruso’s specializes in authentic Italian cuisine consisting of fresh ingredients, but with the addition of some modern reinterpretations. Like many great Italian eateries, Caruso’s makes its pasta and pizza doughs from scratch, by hand. The pizzas come speedily out of a blazing wood-fired oven. In addition to classics like Margherita, you have some imaginative combinations like the Fig & Pig, which includes fig jam, blue cheese, prosciutto, balsamic reduction, and caramelized onion. Aside from pasta and chicken dishes, you can elect to order a massive 32-ounce porterhouse steak or the sea bass with lemon cream sauce.
You can find Caruso’s Ristorante & Bar at 6765 Dixie Highway. The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, with varying hours. Wednesday and Thursday operations are from 5 to 9 p.m., while Fridays last from 5 to 10 p.m. On Saturdays, the service is from 4 to 10 p.m. Sunday hours are 3 to 8 p.m. To make reservations, use the booking option on the restaurant’s website.
