New Honda Model Lineup: What’s New & What’s Discontinued for 2024

Each year, car manufacturers make significant changes to their vehicle lineups. This includes adding new models, updating their existing ones, and discontinuing some models altogether. Before you start shopping for your next vehicle, knowing what your preferred auto manufacturer has in store for the upcoming year can be helpful. Below, we share what we know about the upcoming Honda lineup, including what’s new or discontinued for 2024.

New Additions in 2024

For 2024, Honda has some new and exciting changes to look forward to. Below, we outline the changes you can expect to popular models, along with the new models Honda plans to release:

2024 Honda Civic Hybrid

For starters, a hybrid version of the popular Honda Civic is expected for the 2024 model year. This hybrid powertrain will be available on both the sedan and the hatchback versions of the Civic. We expect the hybrid powertrain to contain a four-cylinder engine and two electric motors, producing around 180 to 200 horsepower.

With this new hybrid powertrain, the Honda Civic will join the hybrid Accord and a few hybrid SUVs as Honda’s primary electric vehicles. As with previous model years, the 2024 Honda Civic will be one of the best small cars on the market, combining reliability, safety, fuel efficiency, and style, all at an affordable price.

2024 Honda Prologue

The next major addition for Honda in 2024 is the release of the new Honda Prologue. The 2024 Honda Prologue will be Honda’s second attempt at an all-electric vehicle after its initial Honda Clarity sedan. Honda hasn’t released too many details about the 2024 Honda Prologue yet, but we do know that this SUV will be a little larger than the Honda CR-V.

Based on initial designs, we expect it to be around the same size as the Honda Passport. Some other details we expect the 2024 Honda Prologue to have are a panoramic sunroof, LED exterior lighting elements, an upright infotainment tablet, and a streamlined center console. 2024 Honda CR-V

2024 Honda CR-V

The last major change for Honda vehicles in 2024 is a new version of the popular Honda CR-V. In 2024, a hydrogen-powered version of the Honda CR-V will be available. This SUV will have a fuel cell system along with two hydrogen tanks at the back of the vehicle. As with the Honda Prologue, details about this new version of the Honda CR-V are still a little murky.

For example, this SUV may only release in select locations. However, this new hydrogen-powered version of the CR-V isn’t replacing the other CR-V models, so you’ll still be able to get your hands on the excellent CR-V in 2024, no matter where you live.

Returning Honda Models in 2024

Honda also plans to continue selling many of its popular models in 2024. Below are just a few popular models that Honda has confirmed for 2024, likely with a few upgrades over their 2023 versions:

2024 Honda HR-V

The new 2024 model of the Honda HR-V is an excellent choice if you’re looking for an entry-level SUV. The HR-V received a full redesign in 2023, meaning the 2024 model likely won’t see any major changes. Under the hood of the 2024 Honda HR-V, you’ll find a 2.0L engine that produces 158 horsepower. Front-wheel drive comes standard, but you can also upgrade to all-wheel drive on any of the trims. Fuel economy is excellent, providing 26 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, and the HR-V features ample cargo space, with 24 cubic feet of volume behind the rear seats.

2024 Honda Accord

Honda hasn’t officially announced the 2024 Honda Accord yet or released any details. However, as the Accord is one of Honda’s most popular vehicles, we highly suspect it will return to the Honda lineup early in 2024. As with the Honda HR-V, the Accord received a full redesign in 2023, so the 2024 model will likely be similar. We expect the 2024 Honda HR-V to come with an optional hybrid powertrain, delivering stronger performance and better fuel efficiency. The Honda Accord is always a strong option if you’re looking for an affordable yet luxurious sedan.

2024 Honda Pilot

Lastly, there’s the 2024 Honda Pilot, Honda’s midsize SUV. The Honda Pilot also saw major changes in 2023, making it a more upscale SUV. We expect the 2024 Honda Pilot to come with a 3.5L V-6 engine that produces 285 horsepower — the same one found in the 2023 model. It will also come with Honda’s suit of advanced safety features called Honda Sensing. This will include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warning, and automatic emergency braking, among other features. The 2023 Honda Pilot went on sale in December, so the 2024 Honda Pilot should also release in the winter.

Is Honda Discontinuing Any Models in 2024?

For the 2024 model year, Honda hasn’t announced that it’s discontinuing any of its current models. This differs from the 2023 model year, which saw Honda discontinuing the Honda Insight hybrid sedan. So if there’s a particular Honda model that you’ve liked in recent years, there’s a good chance that there will be a new version for the 2024 model year.
