2024 Honda Accord Interior

August 28th, 2023 by

The Accord has come a long way. Today, the sedan exudes a next-generation feel — modern, good-looking, a statement vehicle. But what about the inside? Honda is on the verge of announcing plans for the 2024 Accord, and you might be wondering what to expect from its interior. While official announcements have yet to be issued, the team at Performance Honda of Fairfield, Ohio, has done some reconnaissance to see what we do know.

Honda Accord  History

The Honda Accord sedan has taken on legendary status within the car-buying world. The car’s longevity goes across generations, having been first sold in America’s bicentennial year of 1976. At the time, according to Car and Driver magazine, the first Accord was a “somewhat dumpy-looking two-door hatchback,” putting out a total of about 68 horsepower. When the car reached its 40th birthday, Honda declared it the nation’s best-selling vehicle for over four decades, with nearly 14 million sold.

2024 Honda Accord Seating and Cargo Space

One thing’s for sure: The 2024 Honda Accord can’t get much bigger without becoming a new addition to the crossover category. And we know that the Accord is staying as a sedan. Carscoops.com reports that the 2024 Accord will accommodate five passengers.

If 2023 is any indication, the five passengers will have lots of space for themselves and their gear. The total volume available in the sedan exceeds 102 cubic feet. About 17 cubic feet represents trunk space, where you can store luggage and other cargo.

Every passenger should find the new Accord to their liking, offering 38 inches of headroom, 43 inches of legroom, 58 inches of shoulder room, and 55 inches of front hip room, according to Carscoops.

Technology and Controls

Edmunds got a chance to test-drive a 2024 Honda and found the interior technology features to be to its liking. The model Edmunds drove featured a 12.3-inch (measured diagonally) touch screen, which is the same as in the 2023 Accord. Honda has a history of building smaller screens into the entry-level models in the lineup.

As you might expect, the 2024 Accord offers wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto software to connect your cellphone to the display, so you can access navigation, music and podcast apps, send texts using voice commands, check on performance metrics for your car, and take advantage of other facets of information or entertainment on your drive. If you have an iPhone, you can use Apple CarPlay; Android Auto will pop up for your Android phone. Honda has worked hard with designers to simplify the menu structure.

Edmunds also observes that one Accord trim in the 2024 lineup, the Touring trim, offers built-in Google Assistant and services integration. In the future, drivers may add an optional Bose sound system, Google Assistant, Google Maps, and other handy tools to the car.

Interior Experience

Keeping in mind that the final details have yet to be announced, some members of the automotive press have been given a first look and can offer some sense of the interior design of the 2024 Honda Accord. For instance, Edmunds, an auto-buying information resource, reports that buyers should expect “a back-to-basics interior with a simple center stack and big, no-nonsense buttons and knobs.” Edmunds also cites wide door openings as a good step in simplifying the process of getting into and out of a vehicle. The review further notes the “generous legroom” while giving praise to the overall amount of legroom in the vehicle.

Safety Features

We’ll know when the official announcements are made, but it’s safe to anticipate that the new Accord will offer the full Honda Sensing suite for safety purposes. Based on what we saw in the 2023 Accord, it’s likely that the 2024 model will have some built-in interior safety protections that aren’t obvious to the untrained eye.

For instance, the Accord has been updated to include the latest version of Advanced Compatibility Engineering, which includes design features that help protect drivers and passengers in angled front collisions. These features minimize the risk of severe injury if a crash should occur.

Honda notes that its current generation of technology in design has earned a Top Safety Pick+ and a five-star rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Again, we won’t know for sure until the 2024 tests are complete but take note that last year’s Accord, according to Honda, met the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Side Impact Crashworthiness Evaluation 2.0 standard.

If 2023 is any guide, then the new Accord model will have plenty of protection with airbags. Honda is now using what it describes as an “innovative tuck-sewing structure” to make the airbag firmer. The Accord is likely also to include standard airbags for protecting rear passengers and at knee level.

Inside the vehicle, you’ll also notice, through an audible alert, the presence of the Honda Sensing suite. The suite will alert you to dangers such as drifting out of your lane when pedestrians are in your path or other cars are in your blind spot. Honda Sensing now routinely includes a camera with a wide field of view and wide-angle radar.

Honda and Accord also have your back with a rear seatbelt reminder and rear seat reminder functions, which help keep you aware of pets or children in the backseat.
